Holly 20, July 3 Middleham Castle

 This morning we went to a castle and did lots of fun things like help pretend to fire a canon and watching archers loosing arrows.  Did you know that an archer can fire up to four arrows at once?

We also saw the story of King Richard the III and we helped in that too.  Aidan and I had to pretend to be leading an army and one army went the wrong way and didn't have anyone to fight. I was King Richard.

We saw some people who were playing music. They had lots of different instruments. One was a really nice whistle made from a water reed and there was one made from a bone.

We also saw the Duchess being served her meal. There were lots of rules everyone had to follow. We heard about all the different food they had to eat in the 1400's.

Also we climbed the tower of the castle and you could see a long way.

After we left the castle we went to a market for lunch and we met a man showed me how to make a pot. I was going to make a pot with a lid but instead it made a flower pot. But I said I would make it a jewellery pot. The pot made itself different by the clay having a mind of its own.
