We have arrived in York. In this house sit we have two cats and three chickens.
For our first day in York we went an old castle for the King Richard the 3rd markets. We walked around the back of the castle and looked at some armour. I put on a helmet and held a sword.
Then Dad and I watched a lady skin a rabbit. When Dad and I were watching I saw Holly walking past next to a canon carrying 2 poles. The man that was doing it called me up too so Holly and I helped fire the canon. First Holly cleaned it out with a stick with something pointy on the end,
then I had to use a stick with a wet sponge to wash it out, then a dry sponge to clean it out more.
Then the charge and the gunpowder get put in and then we pretended to light the canon. We couldn’t fire the canon for real because the horses in the field would get scared.

Then we went inside the castle we went to see the King and his wife. He was telling us about a battle he fought in. Holly and I had to pretend to be leading the armies.
Then we went around the back of the castle again to see how the Duchess would be served her meals. There was a man with her. He was sitting on her left hand side. That was because he had done something that she didn’t like. If he pleases her again he will be allowed to sit on her left. This is why we can use the saying right hand man.
